After a couple of years training, in 1981, Thiru landed in Zurich, Switzerland, for his Chef's papers, something very similar to a cook's diploma. After getting his chef's papers he moved again, but to the Middle East. It seemed now he was ready to get working and so he did for the following sixteen years. He worked in some of the leading catering establishments in Baharain, United Arab Emirates, Sultanate of Oman. Thiru felt he was bound for a challenge, so he flew to the United States in 1998. In US, he part owned a restaurant named, Saffron at Litchfield, Connecticut for two years. Finally, he migrated to Canada in late 2000. Within months of landing, he opened a family business in early 2001, in the name of Classic Indian. This vast and varied experience, from six different countries has been an added asset to the continued success of this family friendly restaurant.
